A Daruma doll is a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism. These dolls, though typically red and depicting a bearded man (Bodhidharma), vary greatly in color and design depending on region and artist.
The eyes of the daruma are painted to resemble cranes, and the moustache like turtles – both symbols of luck and longevity in Japan.
"Shirakawa Daruma," a specialty of Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, is made into a colorful bean-sized doll.
Each color has a meaning, so you can choose your favorite color or the meaning you want to achieve.
The cute, small round shape makes it easy to display in the entranceway, on a shelf, or on a table.
It is also recommended as a gift. in some regions orange color refers to Fertility / safety for children
